Ingrim live all over the world, having one main purpose, to act as the Lyzzie Postal Service. They deliver everything for packages to war-time telegrams. They are a real sucker for fruits, because they're sweet like candy. For each item delivered, they recieve their meal for the day, being payed with small fruits like grapes, and cut pieces of bigger fruits. You'd think these little guys would be fat, but they burn it off by the mile, sometime travelling over 60 miles to get to a destination! For each town, which all the Ingrim have split up amongst themselves, there's a postal service. Lyzzies sit a package outside and rub fresh cut oranges on the paper of their package, which sits four feet in front of the Ingrim's "hangar" (a dowell rod). At dusk, the Ingrim fly over their area every night, low to the ground using their big eyes to dodge trees, and smell the scent of the orange. They use orange because it has the strongest scent. The Ingrim catches the "hangar" and sniffs to where the package is, then flaps its wings til it's horizonal with the ground, lets go of the bar, picks up the package string, flies to the location, drops it off, sits back on the hangar, then screams for their reward in fruit by pulling at a bell with their thumb claw and causing a rucus. Sometimes they get injured just by missing the hangar and running into the wall of a home or a tree. Ingrim are often clumsy, and even when getting food, they miss a branch, ramming into the bushes, causing whatever lives or feeds there to be angry. They travel in groups of three to five, to aid an Ingrim thats fallen while in service, or to take more packages if there's more than one. Another reason is to keep them on task because if they find a fruit bush, they'll stop for hours and eat, then rest. Ingrim have emense hearing, so it makes it nearly impossible to catch one while it sleeps, because even if its eyes are closed and mind at rest, it can still hear. Even though they spend alot of time travelling around, they still find time to converse and hang around at houses and public houses (pubs/bars). They gather alot of information about certain Lyzzies, unintentionally, which makes them the gossip kings of their world. But wheather they choose to release the juicy pieces of info rely on how big a portion of fruit you give them.
The Ingrim Homes
It looks like a giant ball of tightly wrapped vines, with three or four long, braided vines tyed, extending out in either a Y or cross shape, connected from the ball to nearby tree trunks. Its completely suspended in the air like a hammack in the center of a circle of tall trees, making it hard for preditors to raid it. There is a door in the bottem of the vine ball, and by crawling upon it, weighs it down, and they fall into flight, making it somewhat dangerous. The "wild" Ingrim live in tropical and subtropical areas like Malaysia, Java, Thailand Asia and Austrailia. But over time came to serve other Lyzzies, causing them to spread all over the world, and since food was a primary reason for them staying in tropical places, they were now being payed by being given fruit in return, so it no longer was a real problem. Some Aubrey have their own personal Ingrim, and have them build their nest outside on one of the huge evergreen trees.
The Diet
A strict fruigivore (eats fruit), they love to snack on tree-growing food such as mangoes, grapes, bananas, nuts, avacodoes, figs, and whatever else they can find in the wild. If they're in a country that cannot get any of those, they'll accept anything, even eating an occasional insect. Ingrim, like humans, cannot produce their own Vitamin C, so they get it from flowers and fruit. Their favorite scent is orange, and will accept most things if you have rubbed orange juice on it. They like it because it has the strongest smell and lasts long, so most Ingrim homes smell of oranges. When finding food, it zooms down and catches a branch with its toes, then if the food is too far to grasp, its wings double as average arms and it grasps the branch to sort of "slither" over to where it is. It uses its large thumb claws to gouge out bits of mango and to help get things to its mouth. They also use their foot to grasp at fruit and bring it down to their mouth. Their diets also include flowers and pollen, which helps pollenate flowers.
Common Traditions
They haven't a religion because most haven't the time for it since they constantly work. Most of the time they haven't time for family. The male Ingrim handle the messages, while the females stay at home with the young. Some females that haven't any children or mates, handle packages and are just as capable as a male. Socially, they hang together and touching is one of their needs, like humans. They sit in "camps" and groom each other with their thumb claws and their long sticky tongues. They have to make time to put their own needs before their work. Relationships are quick and distant. Females like guys with the nicest voice and the ones with the yellowest colored back fur.
What's In?
They never evolved to a "Bileg" form or human like. The only difference bewteen them and your average flying fox, is that they are bigger and can speak human-like. They are about
Fact: Ingrims wings shouldn't be thought of as rod-like bones sticking out of its body, or like bird wings or what you've seen on dragons. Ingrim have unique wings! When drawing them, think of a humans' arm. They have elbows, wrists, and sticking out from the wrist, is a thumb claw, and four fingers hanging down that remind me of toes that a frog has. Their rubber-like skin is stretched between the four fingers.
