Donovans

Donovans are of three groups, or categories, when it comes to how they act
and think.
The Rangers are creatures of their own free-will, living off the land and dying by it or by
their opponents blade. They hide for a purpose, showing up as mysteriously as the leave, wandering the world
alone to find new challenges and being unwelcomed guest to inns. Though, they are not banned from most inns. Their quiet and unhasty behavior makes everyone around them uneasy, and often crawl to a dark corner of the inn, observing the room. They are a favorite to Ingrims, who travel as much as they do, and get rewarded for any bit of information known about an ill-favored Donovan or the known-secrets of an arisen battle.
The Dark-Warriors think deception is the
easier road to follow, against the Paladins just for the thrill of being evil and thinking the Knights Code is
a joke. They like nothing more than to cut off every head that gets in their way, and band armies together to cause wars against other Donovans, whether they are other Warriors or are Paladins, depending on who they have a grudge against.
The Paladins are the graceful knights who live by the Code, as told in the tales of King Arthur. The battles against the Warriors sometimes take a turn for the worst since the Warriors do anything they can to win, often killing hundreds of Paladins because of this reason. When a Paladin is killed, he/she is treated with high honor by other Paladins, especially if he is the last to be slain on the field.
Some of the Donovan thought human slavery would be rewarding and that deception was a useful tool, and still do. But then saw chivalry and knighthood
which hastily changed the Don-Paladins actions. Most have encarved in their minds that nothing will get done unless force is
used. Some of the best Rangers believe in the robinhood theory, which is giving to the poor what they've stolen from the
rich and that it will make you a hero..yet will quickly get you thrown into our prisons. They always believe that they are
on top of all and nobody but another Donovan would try to begin a war against them, and they often do begin one. They see that winning a female's
attention by being brave and swift will work most of the time, so they use it often. Being born
a Donovan, alot is expected of you! You must be tough and have the will to make things the way you think they should
be, and do anything you can to make it happen, often defending your fathers name in battles as well as your own. A Donovans friend is the Ingrim for sending messages to alies from one
side to the other. Early on, Okapai were captured and used in battle, because most Donovans won't attack something of such great strength
and size. But then the other armies began capturing Okapai, and soon it became a necessity in battle to have them, so that the Okapai fight each other instead of trampling the Donovan army and killing them off.
Donovan Breeds
Click the names to see photos of the creatures your accustomed to seeing, it also tells you more info about their smaller cousins (the ones in the Lyzbeth are always larger in size).
The Puma (cougar, mountain lion) is the main breed, standing 5 feet in height as a Fleg.
The Painted-Dog, once known as the African Wild Dog, is being protected from extinction by their Bilegs. Vicious deseases attack the Fleggan Painted Dogs, such as the virus of mange, in which their muscles collapse one-by-one, until their brain shuts down and dies a painful death over a long period of time. Those who have the desease display seizure-like events, dropping to the ground and convulsing, while the members of its pack can only try to comfort it and look on as it drools and shakes uncontrollably.
Fennec Foxes, like many other creatures in this world, is being taken in as pets to humans. These guys came to the Lyzbeth for reasons of getting away from humans to protect their future generations from being captured.
Recently discovered was a small clan of the ancient Onza, a puma-like ancestor which all wild cats were thought to evolve from. We have added them to the Lyzbeth, protecting them under our secrecy code, against human scientists and those who may want to capture or expiriment on them. They have grown bigger than they once were, standing as a Fleg is 4ft at the withers.
The Donovan Homes
Their homes are the local "inns" and are a welcome sight..well some of them. The Donovans that are well-respected get the good life, and the one's who lose wars and have a relatively bad attitudes are given basically nothing.
The Diet
Fighting in battle is different than catching dinner. All the "fight with honour" codes go right out the window, so to speak. Donovans have a great advantage of stalking without being heard and wait above in a tree or on a mountain, then dive down, forcing their massive 300lb bodies upon their prey. They are strict carnivores, and eat things that range from rabbits to deer. The bigger the challenge, the more fun. Whatever they don't eat, goes to the smaller creatures.
Common Traditions
More superstitious Donovans, before a great war, will burn rowan tree firewood and say an incantation over it to summon the spirits of their angered ancestors to take part in the battle and protect them from harm.

Their last names are of noble quality, telling alot about their family history and are passed from generation to generation. Names Rangers may carry are Shotraven, Armourden, and Robfast. Some of the names of Paladins, are Nobelleon, Prideon, Greatbow. And the Warriors most-common names are Darkeye, Darkheart, Wripton, and Tallonclaw. These names used to be of two words, but slowly the spelling was altered to how it sounded or was dressed up with extra letters.
