Bards, like the Okapai, have different breeds, such as racoons, ringtails, tigers, snakes, wolves, and dragons. They are the voice of the world, learning songs of olde that tell stories of critical, historical, or comedic events, and as years pass, the new generations create new songs to be shared. Bards fly from place to place, spreading their stories to every willing ear. They are also well known for making paint brushes of their molted feathers. Many beg for a painting done by a Bard, which is usually of portraits, nature, and the life that lives about them. Some would rather paint, and some would rather sing. Wheather they tell a story with words on song, or with brush on canvas, Lyzzies seem to love them and hold them in high regard. Aubreys and Donovan especially, because the Aubrey would want their beauty captured for all time, while the Donovan need songs of their victorious battles and deeds. So, Bards are constantly on the go, happy to be of need. Most Bards love craftwork. They'll paste jewels and meaningful objects to their id collars with tree sap, or will tie things to their collars, legs, ears or about their neck, with vines. Nearly all Bards understand and speak every language of Lyzzies, to translate stories and write songs for other clans. Many Clans would find this as another useful reason to keep them near. Their minds are always filled with ideas, turning out great phrases and have invented most of the insults about other clans, and that includes Bards themselves. Most Bards can be very in-depth poetically in just an average conversation about weather or news they've heard, making no simple chat a dull conversation, though if you meet a Bard that doesn't have this gift, it simply means they aren't in the mood for being clever. Bards are the great inventors! They make flutes of bamboo and reeds, and other intruments of merriment. In the spring, Hodges pluck their undercoat fur and leave it beneathe the Fur Tree in bags and bundles. Birds freely come to use it for building nests, and the Bards take the rest, then wash it, comb the fur to soften it, and weave cloth out of it. They also make wire jewellery, using feathers, and clay or wooden beads, shaped and painted by hand. Many depend on the Bards for clothing, wooden carvings for homes or pubs, and instruments. They are the suppliers of beauty and fun!

The Bard homes

Most Bards are like birds, living inside hollow trees. How you know if a tree is inhabited, a bard can never leave an object alone without adding their own style to it. They must be spruced up with paintings on the bark or different coloured leaves or a sign hanging from a branch to tell 'they are there', but have great respect for nature and won't do anything TOO harmful to the tree.

Wolves live in the mountainsides, since they haven't many trees in the remotely frozen areas that they choose to live. Their summer homes in lower Canada and Europe, are in the largest trees, and build what is similar to an eagles nest.

Tigers are nomadic, loving to view the worlds different beautiful environments. They love the forests the most, nesting in the giant redwoods of America, to the small desert forests that are near rivers like the Nile. Though most travel, some are just happy with exploring and dwelling in the amazons til the end of their days.

The Diet

It depends on the Bard. Wolves are carnivores, coons and ringtails are scavengers, tigers are scavengers and carnivores, and serpents are carnivores and cannibals. Most dragons are vegitarians, and are only forced to kill when vegitation can't be found or in defence against another creature.

Common Traditions

A Bard protect is young til its at least in adolescence. During that time, the parents would sing stories to entertain them, and soon the young would learn it and know it by heart, and would pass it on to their young when they grow older.

Breeds of Bards

Wolf, Coon, Ringtail, Tiger, Serpent, and (western) Dragon.

Wolf Bard

The Wolf lives in the arctic regions, high in mountains peaks. It hopes to climb above the world to touch the Northern Lights its so fond of. They gather in packs to watch them every year, then travel together, south, where their coats turn a sandy color as the climate climbs.

Coon Bard

The Coon is a nocturnal hunter, mostly because they fear Donovans. Curling in hollow tree noches until night, they may battle Ingrim for bugs and fruit. unlike the ringtail's feather plumage, Coons feathers stick outward and their wings stand like a giant thick mass, much like a swans. since feathers stick out, Coons get bothered with them and have to organize, prune and pluck out the uncomfortable ones.

Ringtail Bard

Swift and gentle, Rings are well-known to be. They are a joy to have about you, and bless luck upon you if you're lucky enough to befriend one.

Tiger Bard

The Tiger lives in the mirage-like regions of deserts, where lush forests thrive near rivers. They are travellers, flocking to Englands forests in spring and summer, then fly back to its home at the sign of winters first snowflake.

Serpent Bard

Very territorial during mating months of April and June. Whichever males die in the battle over a mate, the female will cannibalistically consume him. These creatures love to humiliate by singing of things such as Donovans' losses in battle.

Dragon Bard

The Dragon lives beneathe waterfall cliffs and wherever water is plenty. It uses this source as a defense, holding its breath, it disappears til danger passes. The dragon shown is one of the many styles, some look more traditional than others. They are all very wise, but not all follow their own advice. The fairy-dragons, like the one pictured, are tricksters, and will do anything to be amusing.

Seahorse Bard

(Coming Soon!)
The wingless Bard. It's skill is through sound, and can create sound waves that can be heard two miles away underwater. It's song is solumn and low, and is what sprung the sailors stories of mermaids. One sailor reported of a shadow under the surface of the water, flowing hair and a scaley tail, and heard a voice of a woman seeming to be "humming" a tune..it was the Seahorse Bard. It is protected for that reason. Centuries ago, men wanted to capture "mermaids" and these Bards were then included with the Lyzbeth.

Often they use a first name as a last name. they don't always stick to this list since they are very creative and could make up an alias or nickname or even a last name for themselves. they often do it, and if they hear a name from another clan, they use them as well. in an early bards life, a bard could go through 3 names before reaching their third year of age, before settling on their favourite. they also like to name objects and give them something more inventive rather than 'tree' or 'bush', calling trees 'bard dwellings' and bushes 'green tongues'. Basically, Bards are free to do whatever they want when it comes to naming things and themselves.
